Florida tree trimmer killed after getting caught in wood chipper while working at town hall

A man in Florida died after he got caught in a wood chipper while trimming trees at a town hall in the Miami metropolitan area early Tuesday morning.The man was an employee with an arborist service called to prune trees at the Ocean Ridge Town Hall, according to the Town of Ocean Ridge Facebook.While working, he somehow got caught in the wood chipper.

He was pulled in head-first up to his shoulders and decapitated, officials told CBS News 12.His coworkers scrambled to switch the emergency shut-off, but by then it was too late.By the time police arrived on the scene, the man had already succumbed to his extensive injuries.The man’s identity was not disclosed.

His family, who lives in Mexico, have not been notified yet.“Just horrible.The thought of it is just horrible to be sucked into a wood-chipping machine,” Amanda Eder, an Ocean Ridge resident who lives nearby, told the outlet.Tuesday’s freak workplace accident was not the only this week that turned fatal.
