Chiefs wont hold public rally if they win Super Bowl 2025 after last years deadly shooting

If the Chiefs beat the Eagles in Super Bowl 2025, part of their celebration in Kansas City will look different from previous years.The Chiefs do not plan to hold a public rally in the city following the deadly shooting outside Union Station that took place during last year’s parade that killed one and left over 20 injured, Fox 4 in Kansas City reported.

According to the outlet, this year’s festivities would include a gathering at Arrowhead Stadium for players, their families, Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas and Missouri Gov.Mike Kehoe.The route of the parade has also been tailored so that there is less crowding, according to Fox 4.Dominic Miller, Lyndell Mays and Terry Young were all charged with second-degree murder after an argument between two groups of people escalated into the exchanging of gunfire.

Amidst the chaos and shooting, 43-year-old Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a beloved DJ and radio host of the “Taste of Tejano” music night on KKFI radio, was killed.Prosecutors allege that Mays drew his gun first and that a bullet from Miller’s gun struck and killed Lopez-Galvan.Young and Mays are scheduled to go to trial later this year, while Miller is slated for trial next January.In the days following the shooting, the Chiefs, NFL and the Hunt Family Foundation made a $200,000 donation to the #KCStrong Fund in support of victims and their families, Fox 4 reported at the time.Travis Kelce made a separate $100,000 donation to one of the victim’s families.

This year’s Super Bowl is scheduled for Feb.9 in New Orleans....
