Magic Johnson takes jab at Luka Doncics conditioning after gushing about Lakers trade

Magic Johnson seemed excited over the news that Luka Doncic was headed to his beloved Lakers, but the NBA legend may have wanted to choose his words a little better. Johnson appeared to take an accidental jab at Doncic in a post where he gushed over the positive impact that the 25-year-old Slovenian will have with the Lakers on Sunday night. The part of this post that seemed a bit odd came at the end when he started discussing the “positive influence” LeBron James would have on Doncic. “LeBron James will be a positive influence on Luka, teaching him his championship mentality that includes taking his conditioning seriously,” Johnson wrote in the social media post on X. The timing of the comment comes after it had been reported that the Mavericks had “major concerns” over Doncic’s ability to reach his potential because of issues they saw with his conditioning and lifestyle, according to ESPN. Even with the one-off comment by Johnson, the Lakers great praised the move overall in a series of posts on X. “I’ve been associated with the NBA for 45 years and this Luka and AD trade is the biggest trade I’ve seen between two superstars essentially in their prime!
