Massive chunk of ice falls from the sky, pierces Florida home and no ones sure where it came from

The sky is falling!The Federal Aviation Administration said it is investigating a freak Florida incident, with a massive chuck of ice falling from the sky and slamming into a local home.“Couldn’t believe it,” resident Mike Bishop told Fox Weather.

“Never heard of it in my life.First time.”The Palm Coast Fire Department said the incident happened at 3:39 p.m.

on Monday, when the “large chunk” landed on the roof of a home in Seminole Woods, leaving a huge hole on the house.“The caller reported multiple pieces of ice scattered across the roadway, with one striking a neighbor’s home,” the department said on Facebook.“Upon arrival crews discovered a hole in the metal roof and remnants of ice that had penetrated into the living quarters.”No one was injured and the hole was covered with a tarp, allowing the homeowners to remain.A spokesperson for the FAA told The Post on Wednesday that the agency was investigating — and said there is probably a simple explanation to the mishap.“Water may leak out and form ice on the outside of an aircraft,” they said.

“As the aircraft descends and the temperature warms, the ice can melt and fall off.“When the FAA gets reports about such incidents, the agency tries to determine whether the ice could have come from an aircraft and then identify aircraft potentially involved.”...
