15-year-old hooligan with 8 previous arrests nabbed for allegedly taking subway on joyride: sources

A teen menace with 8 previous arrests was busted Thursday for allegedly taking an empty train on a joyride through Brooklyn with pals last month, according to cops and sources. The 15-year-old boy was nabbed by the NYPD’s Warrant Squad at NYCHA’s Vladeck Houses on the Lower East Side for the daring Jan.25 heist onboard an R train at 36th Street in Sunset Park, cops and sources said. He was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and criminal trespass. Two other teens were busted days earlier. It’s not the kid’s first time wreaking havoc on the subway, police sources told The Post. He was last arrested for assault in March for allegedly throwing a wooden paddle at a straphanger while the boy hung off the back of a 5 train with two other teen goons near Pelham Parkway in the Bronx, according to sources. The victim was walking down the subway stairs when they were struck, sources said.Some of the teen thrill seeker’s other arrests include two petit larceny charges and a collar for criminal possession of stolen property.  Thursday’s latest arrest came days after the NYPD released new surveillance footage of the troublemakers inside the station, with their faces visible. The six-member crew tried to shield their identities by covering up the train’s camera with black marker, police said. The subway reached speeds of roughly 30 mph, and at least part of their journey occured on active train lines, according to sources. It’s unclear how far they made it before hopping off the train. The troublemakers posted video of the brazen escapade on Instagram, sources said. Three other suspects were still in the wind Thursday. ...
