Two brazen bandits who posed as deliverymen before pistol-whipping, tying up and robbing an 88-year-old man inside his Bronx apartment last month are still on the lam, cops said Thursday. The senior was inside his apartment within NYCHA’s Mitchel Houses on Willis Avenue in Mott Haven around 7:20 p.m.
on Jan.19 when two men knocked on his door and claimed they wanted to deliver an envelope, police said. But when the octogenarian opened the door, the strangers forced their way inside and bashed him in the head with a gun, cops said. The pair then threw him on the bed and tied him up as they rifled through his belongings – swiping a cell phone, about $28 and a wallet, police said. The callous crooks then fled in a black 2018 Honda CRV, cops said. The pistol-whipping left the elderly victim with a gash on his head – and he was taken to Lincoln Medical Center, where he received stitches but was listed in stable condition. Footage released by the NYPD Thursday morning shows the still-at-large pair walking in the hallway of the apartment complex. Anyone with information on the violent stick-up is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
