Eagles unsung hero Dallas Goedert primed to make Super Bowl splash

NEW ORLEANS — Meet the other tight end playing in Super Bowl 2025 Sunday at the Superdome. Philadelphia’s Dallas Goedert is quite a bit more low profile than his Kansas City counterpart, Travis Kelce. Goedert, for starters, isn’t dating the most recognizable woman on the planet.Taylor Swift or no Taylor Swift, though, Goedert is a top tight end who could be a factor Sunday. “In the grand scheme of things, he’s probably the unsung hero of our offense that people don’t talk about enough or give credit to enough,” Eagles receivers coach Aaron Moorehead said.
“He’s a great blocker in the run game, and he’s great with the ball in his hands.We’re not the same team when he’s not in there.” Goedert missed seven games this season because of injury and still finished with 42 receptions for 496 yards and two TDs in the 10 games he played. “He’s been phenomenal since he’s come back from injury,” Eagles tackle Jordan Mailata said.
“He’s a big, physical, fast, agile player who can do it all.Having Dallas being a part of it is major just when you’re scheming because it’s another threat that the defense has to worry about.” Asked about Goedert being overshadowed by Kelce, who’s become one of the biggest stars in the league, Mailata said, “Is it easy for him to be overshadowed by [Kelce]? Yeah, but I don’t think we’re worried about that.
We just know the caliber player he is to our team and what he can do for our offense.That’s what we worry about, not about who’s on the opposite side.” Said Moorehead: “Dallas doesn’t mind that.
Dallas is a small-town kid [from South Dakota].He’s kind of a guy that’s underappreciated nationally, but certainly not amongst the people that know football.’’ Moorehead pointed to Goedert’s performance against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl two years ago, in which he caught six passes for 60 yards, as something to watch Sunday. “I think that he’ll be able to, hopefully,...
