The Big Apple is expected to be hit with 3 to 5 inches of snow over the weekend — or an icy mix of slush and sleet — while under an official winter storm watch, meteorologists said Friday. The powerful storm is forecast to blow in from the Great Lakes, slamming the city Saturday night and Sunday morning, if temperatures remain below freezing, said FOX Weather Meteorologist Stephanie van Oppen. “Either way, we’re gonna see some kind of wet, heavy snow or sleet,” she told The Post.“And anything that doesn’t get cleared has potential to refreeze Sunday night, so that’s a concern for drivers.”The northern sections of the city, such as the Bronx and Upper Manhattan, are expected to get the most snow as temperatures plunge to bone-chilling lows.Citywide, temperatures will drop to a frigid low of 30 degrees Saturday and 23 degrees Sunday, van Oppen said. The worst of the storm is expected to pass by noon Sunday but the wintery mix could refreeze Sunday night, creating dangerous road conditions for Monday morning commuters.More snow and ice is also expected throughout the week, van Oppen said.“This could be the first of multiple times [NYC] sees snow this week,” she said.
“Everyone needs to be prepared for winter to continue.”The storm is also forecast to pummel the eastern Rockies along with the Dakotas and Boston....
