Chiefs-Eagles rematch in Super Bowl 2025 is tremendous clash of titans

NEW ORLEANS — The Superdome has been the site of some memorable boxing rematches. Muhammad Ali regained the heavyweight championship here in 1978 when he avenged his loss to Leon Spinks. Two years later, Sugar Ray Leonard beat Robert Duran in their rematch when Duran said, “No mas.” Now, we have another rematch that should be a good fight: the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 2025 on Sunday night. Two years ago, these two met in Arizona, and the Chiefs pulled off a 38-35 victory when Harrison Butker kicked the winning field goal with 8 seconds left in the game. The two teams return to the big game to fight again in a matchup that should be celebrated.

Though some fans might want to say “no mas” when it comes to the Chiefs, there is no denying their greatness. The Eagles may have the best roster in football. It is a tremendous matchup.

We’ve got plenty of star power in Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley. The Chiefs come here chasing history. They are in their fifth Super Bowl in six years, a record, and can become the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row — the elusive three-peat. “We don’t talk about no three-peat,” said Jones, the Chiefs star defensive tackle.

“I think that’s what we’re here for.We understand that.

We understand there’s one more game until the offseason and we can do whatever we want to do.Our main focus is making sure we’re prepared for the Eagles.” The Eagles are trying to win their second Lombardi Trophy after knocking off another dynastic team, the Patriots, in 2017. “We’re obsessed with winning,” owner Jeffrey Lurie said. Philadelphia bounced back from a collapse in 2023 after it started the season 10-1 then went 1-5 to finish the season and lost in the first round of the playoffs.
