Gay pol slams lefts hysteria after vote declaring Massachusetts city trans sanctuary

A gay Republican politician from Massachusetts is slamming the left for deploying “scare tactics and misinformation” after the state’s second-largest city voted to become a sanctuary for transgender people.“The left are creating hysteria,” State Committeeman Alexander Hagerty said in a recent interview.“People are sick and tired of people shoving their identities in other’s faces,” he added.The Worcester City Council passed a resolution Tuesday declaring the city’s new status, which is not legally binding but affirms the city’s commitment to protecting the rights of trans and queer people.Hagerty, 30, called the move “redundant” and argued in an interview with the Daily Mail that the Bay State is very accepting of gay and trans communities.
He noted that the state was the first to allow same sex marriages.“As an openly gay man, I am fortunate to live in America,” Hagerty said. “LGBTQ+ are the most safe in America.” Hagerty, the first openly gay committeeman in Massachusetts, was elected last year and previously served as a selectman in the town of Abington.“I mean, the fifth in-line for the President’s seat is an openly gay man with kids!” he added, referring to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
