They have beauty, brains — and plenty of chutzpah. Seven NYC women –  including a MAGA media personality, civil rights lawyer, and model – auditioned this week in Manhattan for a chance to compete in the Miss Universe Israel.Contestants schmoozed a quintet of judges Wednesday during open casting at a Chelsea gallery, hoping to go on to the Miami-based pageant at the end of June, and eventually to the Miss Universe pageant in November.Contestant Elizabeth Sutton, a 35-year-old Manhattan mom of two, pitched herself as “an amazing Miss Israel.”“We need strong and vocal advocates with substance, who don’t cower to the pressure of the public opinion – because public opinion is not on our side,” she added.Sutton, a fashion designer and owner of the gallery, said her desire to represent the Jewish state on the world stage overruled her nerves.“This is definitely outside my comfort zone,” admitted the sixth-generation New Yorker.“A beauty pageant can sometimes be superficial.

But this feels substantive.”Conservative media personality Justine Brooke Murray wore a prominent Star of David necklace in her video submission to the judges, noting her long history of “pro-Israel advocacy,” and lamenting the need to justify the Jewish state’s right to exist. “Israel is our ancestral homeland for all of us,” said Murray, 26.“Miss Israel isn’t just a shayna punim [pretty face], but an unapologetic advocate for the Jewish people.”Adela Cojab, a lawyer who sued her alma mater NYU for antisemitism, said she’s embracing her “Elle Woods” moment, referring to the go-getter character played by Reese Witherspoon in the film “Legally Blonde.”“It’s about empowering the next generation of women,” said the 28-year-old Syrian-Lebanese, Mexican Jew.
