Triple Play: Billy Joel to make more history during NYC summer stadium concerts heres how
The Piano Man is taking his show on the road.Billy Joel may have moved out of Madison Square Garden — ending his landmark residency at his hometown arena last July after 10 years, 104 sold-out shows and 1.9 million tickets scanned — but he’s not saying goodbye to the concert life.In fact, he’s announced a 2025 stadium tour that will have him making more NYC history.The 75-year-old legend will become the first artist to play all three stadiums in the New York area in a single summer: Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on July 18; MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, on August 8; and Citi Field in Queens on August 21.
Joel will be joined by three other rock giants for each concert: Rod Stewart at Yankee Stadium, Stevie Nicks at MetLife and Sting at Citi Field.He’s calling it a “Triple Play,” the rocker’s rep exclusively told The Post.“I’m looking forward to playing these iconic stadiums this summer – each holds personal significance to me,” Joel told Billboard.“There’s nothing like the energy of the crowds in New York, and sharing a stage with my friends, Rod Stewart, Sting and Stevie Nicks, whose music always inspires me, is extremely rewarding.”Joel has history with Yankee Stadium as the first rock artist to play at the home of the Bronx Bombers in June 1990.
He then rocked Shea Stadium in July 2008 at his “Last Play at Shea” concerts before the Mets’ former home was demolished to make way for Citi Field.Joel’s 2025 stadium tour will kick off at Rogers Centre in Toronto on March 15, before hitting Detroit’s Ford Field (March 29), the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, NY (April 11), Milwaukee’s American Family Field (April 26), Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina (May 10) and Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah (May 23).The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer will go overseas for UK shows in Edinburgh, Scotland (June 7) and Liverpool, England (June 21) before returning to States for a concert at Acrisure Stad...
