Comer threatens to remove Dem Rep. Maxwell Frost from chaotic Oversight hearing after bashing Trump as a grifter

Tensions flared as House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer threatened to forcibly remove Rep.Maxwell Frost from a chaotic Tuesday hearing after the Dem rep violated a ban on him speaking for flouting decorum.Frost (D-Fla.) had used his time to bash President Trump as a “grifter in chief,” which triggered a screaming match and led to Comer barring the 28-year-old from speaking during the hearing.“So if we wanna look at waste, fraud, and abuse — which I’m down to do — why is there complete silence on the other side of the aisle about looking at the complete grifter that is the President of the United States and the richest man on the Earth,” Frost chided during his remarks.
“Why don’t we investigate the real corruption?”The slight against Trump, 78, prompted an objection from Rep.Clay Higgins (R-La.) Comer, 52, then asked Frost if he would “revise” his remark for “improperly” identifying the president.
But Frost refused to back down and began attacking “grifter in chief Trump.”“If I wanted to challenge someone to a fight, they would know it!” Rep.Nancy Mace (R-SC) interjected, though it’s not clear why.
Comer then asked if Frost would revise his comments about Trump to adhere to committee decorum.“It is supposed to be,” Frost acknowledged.
“President Musk and the president of the United States, Donald Trump, who is engaged in grifting of the American people often use their public offices to enrich themselves.”After the committee chairman took note of a pending motion against him, Frost said, “I will say the president is grifting because you spent the last two years saying President Biden was corrupt.“What I will withdraw is calling him grifter in chief.”Unsatisfied, Comer decided to strike Frost’s words from the transcript and barred him from further participation.Rep.
