Two jokes cut from the same hand.“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart recalled when an on-set accident left blood “spurting everywhere” just moments after slicing open his hand while smashing a mug in anger at former President Joe Biden.Stewart, with his index finger wrapped with electrical tape, said that he first “drew blood” in the name of comedy during a 2011 bit with John Oliver involving a margarita blender.“That was more of an artery,” Stewart said Monday.
In a resurfaced clip from June 2011, Stewart and Oliver reenacted a press conference of then-Congressman Anthony Weiner who had admitted to lying about his infamous sexting scandal a day earlier, according to The Hollywood Reporter.Stewart was behind a podium with a Motel 6 microphone making a margarita when he began punching the base of the mixer and cracked the glass he was holding, effectively cutting himself.“That’s not good,” Stewart said.“I’m probably gonna need to go to the hospital.”The clip cut to Oliver behind the podium as Stewart nursed his wound calling attention to the “visibly injured hand.”“That’s a genuine problem,” Oliver said.Oliver then invoked a line from Monty Python and the Holy Grail” during the impromptu emergency“At one point he yells at me, ‘It’s just a flesh wound,'” Stewart said.Stewart described his former Comedy Central star as gleeful as he suffered from the on-stage mishap.“We’re back!
