Small plane crashes in remote area of Vermont, hampering efforts to reach three people injured

A plane has crashed in a remote area of southern Vermont, leaving three people injured as emergency crews battle “difficult conditions” to reach them.The plane crashed into the top of Mount Equinox, a 3,000-foot peak in Bennington County, just before 10 a.m.on Wednesday.“Difficult conditions,” including snow, ice, and fog, as well as the remoteness of the location, were hampering police, fire, and rescue teams’ efforts to reach the crash site, Manchester Town Manager Scott Murphy told the Vermont Digger.Firefighters have urged people to avoid Old Route 7 as emergency vehicles are on the roads while helicopters have been scrambled to the scene, reports WMTW.The Rutland City Fire Department received a request for additional resources to respond to the small plane crash, firefighter Kyle Robillard told the Vermont Digger.An emergency alert was also sent to parents and students at the nearby Burr & Burton Academy, a private boarding school in Manchester, reports WCAX.The cause of the crash is unknown and no details have yet been given on the conditions of the pilot and passengers, or the type of aircraft involved....
