NYCFC coach teases potential transfer news ahead of second game of season

Was New York City FC head coach Pascal Jansen hinting that another roster move could be coming down the pipeline? At the very least, it sounded on Thursday like he hoped one would be on the way soon to help bolster NYCFC’s roster. City saw several departures before the start of the season, including the loss of midfielder Santiago Rodríguez, whose sale to Brazilian side Botafogo became official right before last weekend’s season opener. In an exclusive conversation with The Post before the season, NYCFC sporting director David Lee said the roster was a “work in progress” and that he wanted to add another midfielder and left back. The transfer window remains open until April 23. On Thursday, Jansen expressed optimism that City would have “some good news” about the roster in the near future.“I hope there’s going to be some activity in the transfer window still because we need a little more depth in the squad,” Jansen told reporters during his weekly press conference, adding that he has conversations with Lee about the roster regularly. “I’m in contact with David as much as I can in order to discuss what I see and what I feel about the current squad, but also making sure that we are aligned in what we see needs to be done to strengthen the squad.
