Scooter-riding NYC mom stopped by cops and called a black bh, plans to sue NYPD for $5M

A Brooklyn mom who was riding an e-scooter in Coney Island last summer when she was stopped by cops who allegedly called her a “black bitch” and arrested her for not having ID, is now planning to sue the NYPD for $5 million, The Post has learned.Keyanna Moody, 32, was riding a Z6 Fly E-Bike, an electric scooter that looks like a motorcycle, around 9 p.m.on June 11, according to a notice of claim filed with the city comptroller’s office on Feb.
22.The mom was near Surf Avenue and West 15th Street — her husband was also riding a similar electric bike at the time — when an officer allegedly snatched her keys from the ignition and demanded her license and registration. When she didn’t hand over the documents, two of the officers “violently tackled” her to the ground, the filing claims. The cops then dragged Moody to their patrol car while “pulling on” her head and shoulders, the notice of claim – a precursor to a lawsuit — contends. “I’m asking them ‘What’s going on? Why are you doing this to me?’” Moody told The Post.
“He told me because I won’t shut up, and he called me a black b—h.”A judge instructed her to stay out of trouble for six months and released her. Since the incident, she claims to have suffered back pain, numbness to her foot and tingling in her arms and fingers among other issues.“This is a clear abuse of authority and highlights the systemic issues of racial profiling, excessive force, and lack of accountability within the NYPD,” said Moody’s lawyer Eric Sanders. ...
