Meghan Markle admits to making mistakes with As Ever brand launch: Tons of twists and turns

Meghan Markle is owning it.The Duchess of Sussex, 43, admitted that she made “mistakes” in the launch of her As Ever brand in a rare interview with People published Monday.“I appreciate everyone who gave me the grace to make mistakes and figure it out and also to be forgiving with myself through that,” Markle said.“It’s a learning curve.”Prince Harry’s wife changed the name of her lifestyle business from American Riviera Orchard to As Ever last month after dealing with a slew of trademark snafus that kept delaying the launch.“There are tons of twists and turns — even with the name,” Markle said in the People interview.
“I was figuring it out in real time.” Markle announced her initial brand name back in March 2024.Later that year, Markle’s application for American Riviera Orchard was rejected by the USPTO, who warned that businesses cannot trademark geographical locations.At the time, Markle’s team considered the pushback “routine and expected” when filing for trademarks, The Post heard.Come November 2024, Markle’s team asked the USPTO for a three-month extension to launch the American Riviera Orchard brand.
She officially announced her As Ever brand on Feb.18.Markle’s business, which is expected to sell a signature jam and other products, does not have a launch date yet, though the rollout will likely coincide with the release of her Netflix show, “With Love, Meghan,” which comes out Tuesday.Since announcing As Ever, a small town in Mallorca, Spain, accused Markle of copying its traditional coat of arms for the brand’s logo.
