Power outage at BWI airport triggers massive flight delays, diverted flights

Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport experienced a power outage Monday morning, snarling inbound flight traffic and bringing security screening to a standstill as crews worked furiously to restore normal operations.The affected areas, including the airport’s main terminal and the hourly parking garage, lost power around 8:20 a.m., BWI wrote in an update on Twitter.Baltimore Gas and Electric told WBAL TV that there were downed “customer owned” electrical wires in the area of the airport.By 9:30, the airport said “many inbound flights” were being diverted, and advised travelers to check with their airline for additional information.
