Teen with perfect school attendance stopped showing up to school leading to cops finding his slain mom and stepdad

A Wisconsin teenager who never missed school suddenly stopped showing up — leading police to discover his mom and stepdad murdered at home, and the boy to be arrested while driving in another state with a gun, according to authorities.Nikita Casap’s two-week absence from Waukesha West High School — as well as “weird or suspicious” text messages sent from his stepdad’s phone — prompted a police welfare check at the family’s Waukesha home on Feb.28.There, cops found the 17-year-old’s mom, identified by WISN as Tatiana Casap, buried under clothes with a bullet wound in her shoulder — and her face “blackened from decomposition with dried blood on the floor around her,” according to a criminal complaint.Her husband, identified by relatives as Donald Mayer, was also found under clothing — with “an obvious wound to the back of [his] head,” according to a criminal complaint.Nikita was arrested the same day during a traffic stop in Wakeeney, Kansas — some 850 miles away — while driving his stepdad’s VW Atlas with the family dog inside, the complaint said.“Officers observed in plain view a gun on the passenger side floorboard that was later determined to be a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum firearm,” the complaint said, matching a gun his stepdad recently bought.“Further, officers located [the dead parents’} drivers licenses, unused ammunition for the .357 Magnum and spent shell casings.”The teen — who does not have a license to drive — was charged with one count of theft and one count of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
