Giancarlo Stanton getting more injections as Yankees try to avoid last resort

Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Greg Joyce about the inside buzz on the Yankees from spring training TAMPA — Giancarlo Stanton is getting a second round of PRP injections on his elbows Thursday before returning to Yankees camp.The veteran DH, who will begin the season on the injured list, arrived at spring training dealing with tennis elbow in both arms and underwent a first round of PRPs last week.General manager Brian Cashman said Thursday that Stanton did not get the PRP treatments over the offseason because the complaints did not come up until right before camp.Upon reporting to camp, Stanton said he had not swung a bat for three to four weeks because his elbows had flared back up after playing through the pain for most of last season.Asked about the potential of surgery, Cashman said “it would be the last resort.”For now, Stanton is out indefinitely as the Yankees wait for his elbow pain to subside.Stanton has been back in New York to tend to a personal matter for the past week and a half, but Cashman said he expects him to be back in Tampa by this weekend....
