Giants bringing back fan favorite Tommy DeVito on one-year contract

The Giants went into this offseason knowing they had only one quarterback on their roster, as Tommy DeVito was an exclusive rights free agent and they planned on exercising that option on a one-year deal.  That will happen in the coming days when DeVito signs the contract and then the Giants will get to work looking for their 2025 starting quarterback.DeVito, 26, is expected to share the quarterback room with a veteran signed in free agency — the negotiating window opens up on Monday — and most likely with a rookie selected in the NFL Draft.  The popular Cedar Grove, N.J., product will try to hold onto a roster spot once the other quarterbacks arrive.  DeVito started two games in 2024 — the Giants lost both — and did not throw a touchdown pass or an interception.  He was part of a four-quarterback cycle the Giants used in a dismal 3-14 season, with Daniel Jones, Drew Lock and Tim Boyle taking turns operating one of the NFL’s least-productive offenses.DeVito burst onto the scene in 2023, winning three consecutive starts after Jones went down with a torn ACL.  DeVito went 3-3 in his six starts that season, completing 64 percent of his passes.  He finished that season with eight touchdown passes and only three interceptions, cultivating a “Tommy Cutlets’’ nickname along the way....
