Tennessee teacher found dead in classroom from self-inflicted gunshot

A Tennessee teacher was found dead Thursday morning inside his classroom at Munford High School from a self-inflicted gunshot, leaving a small community in shock.Samuel Colin Day’s body was found around 6 a.m.— well before any students had arrived for classes.The Munford Police Department responded to an “emergency” at the school, and found Day, 60, dead.Officials said in a statement Day died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends, students, and faculty affected by this heartbreaking event,” police said in a statement.“We ask that the community respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time,” added the statement.
Classes were cancelled on Thursday to allow police time to investigate.Day was the school’s Special Education director.He lived with his wife and son in Atoka.It was unclear if police found a suicide note....
