Heartbreaking moment soulless driver abandons starving dog in Arizona desert: video

Police are looking for a “soulless” driver who abandoned a malnourished dog at the edge of the Arizona desert — with the confused pup caught on camera desperately trying to chase after the vehicle.Surveillance cameras in the city of Surprise caught the moment a red SUV drives up to the end of Peoria Avenue on Saturday at around 12:16 p.m.The passenger side door flings open and a small black and white dog hops out while someone inside the car says “Bye-bye,” the footage shows. Before the poor dog can even turn around, the car door quickly shuts and the vehicle rushes away, with the desperate dog running after it, the clip heartbreakingly shows.Luckily for the dog, local Joanna Buesen was walking her own pup in the area when she witnessed the scene.

She stopped to pick up the pooch and tried her best to console the abandoned dog.“It was defeated. It was sad,” Beusen told AZ Family.

“I was angered.I was flabbergasted, shocked.

Just so many emotions.” Beusen said it was unacceptable for anyone to dump a pet at the edge of a desert, with the neighbor slamming the original owner’s farewell that was caught on camera.“I think that they had no remorse for their actions, and I think that is the telltale that it is malicious intent,” she said. “I understand things are hard and things can be tough in life, but you don’t have to be a soulless human,” Buesen added.

“And that is just a soulless thing.” Officials said the dog, who is not chipped, has been taken into custody by Surprise Animal Control, with the pup set to be released to the Arizona Humane Society where he can be adopted. The Surprise Police Department said they have the license plate information from the vehicle and have received “numerous tips” about the incident, which remains under investigation.
