How to watch Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna doc for free

A new documentary about the life, work, and death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins is now available to stream.“Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna,” which was released on Hulu today, was directed by Hutchins’ close friend Rachel Mason.
Matthew Hutchins approached Mason about making a documentary about his late wife.Hutchins, 42, was killed in October 2021 when actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun that had been mistakenly loaded with a live round on the set of “Rust.” Baldwin and armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed were charged with involuntary manslaughter in the months following the shooting; Baldwin’s trial was dismissed due to prosecutors intentionally withholding critical evidence from the defense, while Gutierrez-Reed 18-month sentence was upheld. The doc examines the lawsuits, criminal trials, and investigations of Hutchins’ death, while aiming to redeem and tell the cinematographer’s story — which has largely been overshadowed by the investigation around her death. When “Rust” resumed production, Mason was allowed access to the film’s set to interview director Joel Souza, who was injured in the 2021 shooting, and cinematographer Biance Cline, who replaced Hutchins to finish the film.“Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna” was released on Hulu today, March 11.“Last Take: Rust and the Story of Halyna” is streaming on Hulu.
