Ex-college student sent to jail for shouting N-word 200 times in viral video is denied early release

A former University of Kentucky co-ed whose drunken racist rant went viral is staying behind bars.Sophia Rosing, 24, who was hit with a one-year sentence last year after shouting the N-word more than 200 times during a series of drunken racial assaults, has been denied early release, according to a report by the Courier-Journal newspaper.

Rosing’s lawyer filed a “shock probation” request last month, claiming his troubled client had changed her ways and “dedicated herself to personal growth and accountability” but was suffering from “tremendous personal and professional consequences” for her behavior, the outlet said.The judge nixed it Wednesday, saying it would “unduly depreciate the seriousness” of the crime.Rosing got into hot water on Nov.6, 2022 during a series of racist assaults that culminated with a caught-on-video attack on Kylah Spring, a 19-year-old black student worker on the Lexington college campus.

“You’re a n—-r and you’re a bitch,” an out-of-control Rosing shouts in the video, during which she tells Spring to “do my chores” and yells, “it’s not my fault that you’re black.”Rosing then went off on cops when they showed up, kicking and biting them before being hauled away.She pleaded guilty to assault charges in October in exchange for a 12-month sentence and 100 hours of community service, along with a $25 fine.Rosing, who was permanently banned from the university, has been kept separate from other inmates at the jail for fear of retaliation over her racist tirade, according to reports....
