Miami hotel where Robin Williams and Nathan Lane played Birdcage lovers gets a $1B transformation

The Art Deco Miami Beach hotel that set the stage for Robin Williams and Nathan Lane’s legendary performances in the 1996 film “The Birdcage” is getting a $1 billion transformation. The Raleigh Hotel in Miami’s South Beach is also known for its architectural flair and star-studded past. Its cabanas once hosted the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Madonna, but a decade of neglect succeeded by Hurricane Irma in 2017 put an end to the hotel’s heyday.
