Ellen DeGeneres sells final US property as she cuts ties with Hollywood after UK move

Ellen DeGeneres has cut ties with the US after selling one of her final properties following her permanent move to the UK.The former talk show host, 67, set up camp in the English countryside with her wife, Portia de Rossi, four months ago after buying a sprawling $18 million farmhouse in the Cotswolds.DeGeneres, who had once boasted an impressive real estate portfolio in the US, earlier this month sold her two-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Montecito, Calif. On March 10, Degeneres and the “Arrested Development” alum, 52, listed their sprawling Cali pad for $4,995,000 — four years after they purchased it for $2.9 million.Less than two weeks later, the 1,691-square-foot Spanish bungalow has sold for $5.2 million. The property went into escrow on March 20, after receiving “multiple offers within two days of hitting the market,” a rep for the listing told People.According to the property’s listing, the midcentury-modern home boasts “spa-like” bathrooms, a private courtyard, a terrace and an enclosed patio. The pad, built in 1954 and remodeled in 2012, became the couple’s third property they purchased within a year, according to Architectural Digest. The sale comes just four months after the pair — who wed in 2008 — decided to relocate to England in the wake of President Trump’s election victory. In the UK, the couple purchased a stunning farmhouse in the hoity-toity area for an eye-popping $18 million — some $3 million over the asking price.Still, it’s not all been smooth sailing for the duo, who recently clashed with the British neighbors over an extension at her multimillion-dollar home. While it’s not clear exactly why the pair decided on the Cotswolds, the region is a picturesque and wealthy part of England, with many British stars boasting country houses there.Morning Report delivers the latest news, videos, photos and more.
