Angel Reese gives mom a shoutout as brother has stellar game in Marylands March Madness win

It runs in the family.With Maryland advancing to the Sweet 16, more of the world is learning of Angel Reese’s younger brother, Julian, and his talent for the Terrapins.But the siblings’ talents didn’t come out of nowhere — Angel gives credit to their mom.“Family business!” Angel Reese posted to X Sunday night.“We get it from our momma!”Angel and Julian’s mother, Angel Webb Reese, was also a basketball player in her college days as she spent four seasons playing for the UMBC.

Webb Reese’s background was briefly highlighted during the broadcast of Maryland’s second-round NCAA Tournament matchup against Colorado State while Julian took a trip to the free-throw line. Webb Reese was a 5-foot-11 forward at UMBC from 1988-92 where, just like her children, she was an elite glass-cleaner as she averaged 13.2 rebounds per game in her senior season with the Retrievers.She averaged 17.6 points that season as well, bringing her career average to 12.8 points per game.Comparing the eldest daughter to her mother, the broadcast’s graphic displayed Angel’s similar rebounding numbers as she averaged 14.4 per game in two seasons at LSU.Before Angel won a national championship, she spent two seasons with Maryland, overlapping for one season with her brother during Julian’s freshman year.Now in his senior season, Julian is averaging 13.3 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game for the 4-seeded Terrapins as they continue their March Madness quest into the Sweet 16. Julian and Angel’s father, Michael Reese, also played college basketball as he spent a season with Boston College and two with Loyola Maryland. Want to tune into as much March Madness as you can?
