Gigantic, hyper-realistic moon replica lands at Long Island church

It’s a whole different type of moon landing.A Long Island Episcopal church will soon host a breathtaking, 20-foot artistic replica of Earth’s favorite space rock and weeks of fun events orbiting around it.The Cathedral of the Sacred Incarnation in Garden City will be home to United Kingdom artist Luke Jerram’s world-traveling Museum of the Moon, which is based on NASA imaging, from April 11 to May 4.The art exhibit is coming to Nassau County — where locals played a key role in building the lunar module used by Apollo 11 during the 1960s — to evoke people’s thoughts on science and faith with plenty of fun mixed in.“Sometimes people feel like they are more spiritually connected in nature than they are in the church or a building.
