Blue Origins all-female crew, including Katy Perry and Lauren Sanchez, prep for glammed-up space launch

Pop-star Katy Perry, Lauren Sanchez and Gail King are ready to take off in a glammed-up historic space all-female tourism flight scheduled for Monday morning.Blue Origin’s New Shepard 31 is set for launch starting at 9:30 a.m.from the company’s west Texas base, with the three celebs are set to be joined by crew mates Amanda Nguyen, Aisha Bowe and Kerianne Flynn.Blue Origin’s founder is ex Amazon boss Jeff Bezos — and he’s sending his fiancée Sanchez to space as part of the mission.The voyage, which is expected to fly just above the boundary of space and last around 11 minutes, will mark the first all-female space trip since Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova‘s solo flight in 1963.The crew vowed to look their best during the short space flight, with some preparing to make sure their makeup, eyelashes and hairdos survive the intense force needed to leave the Earth, the weightlessness of pace, and the return trip home.“Space is going to finally be glam,” Perry previously told Elle.

“If I could take glam up with me, I would do that.We are going to put the ‘ass’ in astronaut.”The projected orbit of the mission will see the women soar about 62 miles above the planet, just above the Karman Line, which is internationally recognized as the point where Earth ends and outer space begins.At about two minutes after liftoff, the New Shepard booster is set to separate from the crew capsule and return in a controlled touchdown at the Blue Origin pad about 2 miles north of the launch site.

The women are set to return 10 to 11 minutes later in a parachute landing in the Texas desert.All six crewmates arrived at the base on Saturday for the mission prep, which also included a photo-op of the women in form-fitting Blue Origin’s jumpsuits at the rocket bridge site.Like with previous space tourism missions, Blue Origins designed a special insignia to add to the women’s space suits featuring all their names and a wink to each of their works and ambitions...
