Islanders fire longtime voices Chris King, Greg Picker in shocker with radio future in jeopardy

The Islanders made a change in their broadcast booth Wednesday, letting go both play-by-player Chris King and color analyst Greg Picker from their radio broadcast, The Post confirmed.It’s unclear whether the team — which stopped traveling its radio broadcasters before the 2023-24 season — will continue to be broadcast on radio going forward.The Athletic first reported news of the change.King had been with the Islanders since 1998, with Picker as his partner since 2013. The team’s radio call is produced through Hofstra’s student radio WRHU (88.7 FM) and picked up by ESPN Radio (1050 AM/98.7 FM) and WRCN (103.9 FM). While the Sabres, Hurricanes, Stars and Kings have transitioned to radio simulcasts of their TV calls and others — the Devils, Sharks and also the Kings — have moved toward online radio platforms instead of traditional terrestrial radio, none have jettisoned radio altogether....
