40 overall to the New Orleans Saints, becoming the first QB off the board after the Giants traded back in to take Jaxson Dart late in Round 1.Upon being selected, Shough’s dog — named Murphy — got in on the family fun, sharing a hug with the new Saint and seemingly his significant other.In an interview with ESPN, Reece Davis pointed out that Murphy was already rockin’ a Saints bandana while speaking with Shough.

After Davis pointed this out, Shough replied, “Yeah, we had one for every team, we were prepared,” to which everyone laughed.Shough’s selection means that the freefall continues for talented yet polarizing quarterback Shedeur Sanders of Colorado.

Sanders was once considered to be a first-round draft choice but has slid well into the second round as of this writing.At Louisville, Shough completed 62.7 percent of his passes for 3,195 passing yards this past season, logging 23 touchdowns and six interceptions.Prior to playing for the Cardinals, Shough spent six years in college across Oregon and Texas Tech, accumulating 30 appearances and 18 starts.
