Controversial ex-ESPN host Sage Steele announces engagement: Worth the wait

Sage Steele is getting married.The polarizing ex-ESPN pundit announced her engagement this week.

Steele, 52, wrote, “Sometimes it takes a while to find your person.Maybe even decades.But when you know, YOU KNOW.”She continued, “I can honestly say that I wouldn’t change a thing about my journey.

It was worth the wait.Dave, I am so excited & beyond grateful to be doing life with you! ️” she added, tagging her fiancee, whose name appears to be Dave Barbuto.Steele had a high-profile exit from ESPN, stemming from incidents in 2021 where her political commentary had her taken off TV.

Iy eventually lead to her 2023 departure after settling a lawsuit with the company, which she had sued a year before she left.“Having successfully settled my case with ESPN/Disney, I have decided to leave so I can exercise my first amendment rights more freely,” Steele said in a social media post following her ESPN departure.“I am grateful for so many wonderful experiences over the past 16 years and am excited for my next chapter!”Steele had been an on-air voice and host at ESPN from 2007 until her exit from the Disney-owned company.
