Off-duty NYPD cop shot, wounded in Astoria after being ambushed by 2 men in masks

An off-duty NYPD officer was wounded in the leg during a shooting in Queens on Sunday morning, law enforcement sources said.Two men were taken into custody after alerts went out about a shooting at the intersection of 43rd Avenue and 21st Street about 6:30 a.m., where authorities found the 25-year-old officer suffering from a graze wound, sources told The Post.A green BMW coupe was spotted at the scene at 31st Road and 21st Street in Astoria with a bullet hole in the windshield.The injured cop, who was not immediately identified, was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in stable condition.Two suspects who were both wearing black clothing and blue surgical masks, fled the scene in a grey Nissan sedan, sources said.Two men in a Nissan near the scene were later seen taken into custody.The shooting took place outside a ShotSpotter zone, where acoustic sensors are placed to identify and locate gunfire.This is a developing story.Check back later for more details....
