I want my wife to have less hobbies and time away from home now that we have a child am I wrong?

Most people expect their lives to change after they have kids. Perhaps fewer weekends aways, girls/boys nights, or free time for leisure? Fewer, less… but not absolutely none.And yet, according to one dad, whose rant is now going viral online, that’s his expectation – of his wife, a new mum.The father shared that since having their one-year-old daughter, his partner continues to go on weekends away and spontaneous outings with friends.He complains that the 34-year-old woman enjoys a variety of hobbies, mainly horse riding and dog breeding.This means that she’ll go away for multi-night trips or travel overseas for regularly.

He notes that her time ‘away’ isn’t a source of income, and she also calls her activities “hobbies”. When the two of them first discussed having a child, they accepted their lives would have to change.“I mentioned that she would have to make huge changes.She assured me she was on board with that and it wouldn’t be a problem.”Fast forward to now, he says his wife was on a day trip to take photos of dogs, which he was “guilted” into “letting her” go on. The dad, who also has two kids from a previous marriage aged 12 and 10, says that she sometimes takes off on weekends or holidays that he’s with all three kids, which makes it hard to spend quality time with the older ones. “So I guess what I am looking for is am I really being controlling or am I right and this is just not acceptable behavior for a family?” he asks in his post.“I sometimes feel like we are just roommates who sleep together and have a child together rather than an actual family.”The divisive post was shared so widely that the wife herself stumbled upon it and recognized the story as her own.So, she commented and clarified a few points that her partner had left out. “Hey wife here, found my husband’s thread after realizing he was pissed at me for going on a day trip photographing my dogs out in the countryside,” she started ...
