An Alabama middle school teacher has been charged with raping a 12-year-old student, according to police.Jill Brisendine Campbell, 47, was arrested last week over the boy’s claim that she sexually abused him for years, beginning in 2015, when he was just 12, according to the Opelika Police Department.She was charged with rape and sodomy in the second degree.“The victim reported that the acts occurred when they were in 7th and 8th grade and attending Opelika Middle School.An investigation revealed evidence that corroborated the victim’s statement,” police said.Campbell had intercourse and oral sex with the boy until 2017, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WRBL.The teacher confirmed the abuse in text messages to the boy that showed it was while he was in their middle school, according to investigatorsCampbell, who has taught at the school for more than 20 years, has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues, police said.“Protecting our students is a priority and responsibility we all share.
